UGA Idea Accelerator

The Idea Accelerator is designed to test if your concept can move from the back of a napkin into a scalable business.  Now entering its fourth year, the Accelerator has worked with over 100 teams in the Athens area to test the viability of their idea.

During the course of 8 weeks, you will be exposed to methods for testing your ideas, interacting with customers, pitching others to join you, and validating financial assumptions.  During this 8 weeks, we expect all of our participants to engage and interact with each other, the mentors, and guides with ego-less honesty.

We are looking for strong teams chasing big ideas. We want to work with you to great a big company.  If this describes you, join us.

We meet every Monday & Thursday for 8 weeks (excluding school holidays) from 6 – 8pm.

Although there is no “one-size fits all solution” for building a business, while you participate in the Idea Accelerator, you will be expected to follow a few simple expectations.


  • All teams are expected to share openly with fellow cohort members.
  • All teams are expected to keep confidential what they hear from other teams.
  • Give without expectation, be engaged, be transparent, be persistent.
  • Your potential customers are the answer.
  • The Accelerator Program is an “excuse free” zone. If you do not accomplish the weekly assigned work, you will be asked to leave the program.
